Hi, I'm Dave Fox
In The Storyteller Gene, I will give you practical and spiritual advice, whether you’re a professional finding yourself struggling with confidence or a beginner, just starting out, with a burning desire to create stories that resonate far beyond the page. I want to help with the story you are working on, but also help you, from the standpoint of a therapist, to unlock the door to your creativity. It’s not enough to follow the crowd, your stories must be uniquely personal to you. Forget what you’ve heard. The way to make your mark as a writer is by finding your own voice.
“Writing is therapy. Working on your script is working on your life – and vice versa.”
“I’ve just completed the excellent writing course from David Fox. It was very easy to read (you’d expect that from a professional writer). I particularly liked that there was no waffle. Just the important stuff – straight to the point. Actually it could be helpful to anyone involved in a creative pursuit. It gives you a structure but, more importantly, ways to access all the great stuff hiding in your subconscious.
It’s a must if you’re serious about creative writing.“

An Exploration
Telling stories, you become many different people: a philosopher, an artist, a journalist and commentator, sometimes a teacher, always an explorer. Not only of this multi-faceted, confusing world, but also of your own mind, with its limitless capacity to create.
The stories we tell are important, which is why we strive to bring our best ideas up from the depths of our subconscious minds, where they are born, and into the light.
In ‘The Storyteller Gene’ I will share with you many insights into the craft of writing, no matter which medium you work in. More importantly, I will instil in you, regardless of what level you are starting from, a renewed confidence in your innate ability to express yourself through the written word.
I have won a Writer’s Guild Award for radio, a fringe theatre award for my play ‘Sweet as a Nut‘, and one of my episodes of ‘Casualty‘ was voted on by readers of the RADIO TIMES as one of the six best ever episodes of the long-running series.
it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
So with our stories, the unconscious is our unseen director.
The philosopher Carl Jung understood that to heal people’s suffering he had to re-connect them with their deeper selves, i.e. their subconscious mind. Can you ‘make the unconscious conscious?’ I believe you can, through storytelling.
